Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Trailer!

As if the day couldn't get any better... they released the trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on the front of the new Mummy movie. And while my love of Harry Potter transcends most things, it will not compel me to sit through a two-hour movie with Brendan Fraiser being his normal crappy acting self. That probably won't stop me from seeing this preview on the big screen, but in the mean time, I will find myself glued to YouTube. So if you're completely uninterested in seeing The Mummy: Fraiser's Still A D-Bag, just take a gander at this video.

A Taste of GG: Season 2!

It's that time of the summer when previews for the best shows on television start popping up in between episodes of shows that you don't even really care about. And it just so happens that Gossip Girl previews have been a welcome relief from re-runs of Beauty and the Geek.

If you're good at something, never do it for free

I didn't really think that I wanted to see The Dark Knight, because I wasn't sure that I wanted this really creep-tastic looking movie to be my last memory of Heath Ledger as an actor... but when my co-worker said that she wanted to see it in IMAX, I thought, "Why not?"

And once again, I am so glad that I did.

The movie was a little on the messed up side, just the plot and such... which was something that I had been expecting. But it was amazing. And it was freaking awesome in IMAX. There's so much to say about how fantastic this movie is... but mostly you should go see it for yourself!

Mama Mia, here I go again!

So the previews for this movie did nothing for me... at all. In fact, they probably turned me off to the movie more than anything else. I certainly didn't think that it looked good enough to warrant me parting with $10 of my hard-earned money... and yet somehow I found myself with my friends last night, shelling out $9.75 to go watch it.

And I'm so glad that I did.

This movie was an absolute blast. Sure, it was a little campy and pretty ridiculous, but that's pretty much the industry standard for any musical. It was just so much fun and you could tell the cast had a great time during the filming.

Too good to pass up...

Sephora Goodies!

Yesterday I went to Sephora to treat myself to some birthday prezzies, and this is what I got.

Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder
This stuff is absolutely amazing. It's totally translucent which means that you don't have to guess what color is going to work and it won't screw up the color of your foundation. It feels like satin on your skin and definitely makes a huge difference. When they say it gives you a bit of a soft focus effect, they mean it! This is easily the best $30 I've spent in a while.

Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush
Okay, so the name drives me absolutely insane (maybe they should've tried to get "blush" in there one more time!), but this stuff is the best blush I've ever used. Not that I have an abundance of experience with blush, especially since I was using eyeshadow as blush before I purchased this stuff. But it goes on easily, blends well, and feels good. I got it in Iced Lotus, which has just a little shimmer to it and is a great cool color.

Sephora Brand Bubble Bath
I was given a free "Happy Birthday Beautiful" sample of this in Vanilla Cupcake. I've actually been craving it since I smelled it last night because this scent is outrageously delicious. I've been having trouble remembering that it's not edible, regardless of how wonderful it smells. I'm planning on purchasing the shower gel whenever it comes back into stock. Yum!

It chops veggies; slices onions, cucumbers, and lemons; cores and slices apples; and will make prepping your favorite produce a breeze. I am so impressed with this that I want to buy one for myself and one for my mom... and all of my friends.

Improving the World: One parking space at a time

My biggest pet peeve is when a person can't park their car. Especially if said car is a huge gas-guzzling SUV... and is parked just over the line so no car bigger than a motorcycle could feasibly park next to them. Okay, I get it... you love your car and you don't want people to ding your beautiful, huge paint job... but that doesn't mean you have to be a jerk about it. If anything, if I see a car parked like that it makes me want to run up to it and key the hell out of it (but I refrain because that is ILLEGAL). This little miracle pad of paper will help me alert these horrible parkers of their driving faux pas. It might not actually get them to use common courtesy, but at the very least they might actually feel like the douche bag they are when they engage in such rude actions.

Colorado Shows Strain of Economy

If you live in the Denver area, you might have heard about the decision to re-carpet Denver International Airport. 75,000 yards of carpet are being ripped out and replaced... which totally makes sense since the airport has been open for... almost 13 years. Uh? And it's going to be red? Who makes these decisions? Clearly this was all necessary. I'm glad this is how my tax-payer dollars are being used. Also, it's an ironic choice of color to put in before the Democratic National Convention. Maybe no one told them that the Dems like blue?


Another interesting decision being made in the Denver area comes from Broomfield. If any of you have wandered Flatiron Crossing mall, you've probably noticed that the security guards are now motoring along on Segways instead of strolling the mall like the rest of us. Not only does this make them look ridiculous, but it's also a huge waste of money. Wouldn't it be better for the security guards to walk around to stay in better shape? What happens if they have to make an apprehension? I'm pretty sure they can't hold two people at one time...

Goodies from Sephora!

I ordered a brush set from Sephora last week and along with it I recieved four (yes, four!) samples. I might never shop in-store again after getting so many samples through the mail...

So here is a quick review of the items I've tested out thus far:

Sephora Brand Perfect Ten Brush Set


I love this! The brushes are all super soft and the pink case is a little metallic. Definitely well worth the money spent, especially since I got a free gift satchel that also holds my Sephora Brand Smokey Eye Brush set. I am one pleased girl right now. :)

Escada Moon Sparkle
Fruity and flowery are my favorite scents and this one is possibly my new favorite. I requested this sample after remembering how much I loved the Escada scents I smelled last summer in D.C... and I am so glad that I did! I might have to stock up now, because it is wonderful.

Laura Mercier Lip Plumper
Normally I don't care much for lip plumpers, but this is pretty nice. I didn't actually realize that it was a plumper when I ordered it, actually... so it was sort of a nice surprise when I figured it out. The color is Bronzed Berry and it's beautiful in the tube, but just a little weird on me. The texture is nice, soft and smooth and just a little sticky. Overall, I'm pretty impressed... just not sure it's worth $30 for a 0.18 oz tube.
